I did place an order for beeswax and a few other items from my skincare vendor website thingy. Mostly I just wanted the beeswax. My lips are really aggravating me; they're parched and feel tight and sting-y. And I have absolutely no idea why this is happening. I've been carrying around a little bottle of grapeseed and olive oil to smear on my lips, and I'm using it at least twice an hour, but my lips aren't improving at all. I'm at a loss. What's going on here?

Blah. I continue to Google.

It could be that now that the weather is getting colder, the air is getting dryer. I'm not sure why olive oil isn't doing the trick, maybe your lips need a different combination?

I really like Burt's Bees beeswax lip balm. It's got a little bit of mint in it, so it makes my lips tingle. Very nice. :-)

the problem appears to be that the oil doesn't stay on my lips. I started adding oil to my lipstick and also using Blistex, and things are getting better.

i made a recipe once that had olive oil, beeswax and lanolin in it- and then you can add essential oils that are soothing to skin- not too much scented stuff.

ooo, that sounds awesome. I don't have lanolin, but I bet olive oil and beeswax really help in and of themselves. I also got some neem oil shipped to me, which I might experiment with in a lip balm.

Lips don't have any oil glands of their own, and between talking, eating and licking, it's hard to keep anything on it. Lip balms w/beeswax are always good, as the beeswax helps it stick around long enough to do some good and help hold in any moisture. (I might have some Lush lip balms lying around that I'm not really using, if you're interested...)

Cool...I ordered some of my own beeswax so I can make my own balm. In the meantime, wearing lipstick over a coat of Blistex balm is actually helping a great deal.

I agree, it's the cold and the resultant change in humidity. My lips started getting chapped about a week ago. I'd be interested in buying a homemade balm from you when you get your stuff ... that'd give us an excuse to get together, too =)

sounds good! my beeswax came in, so there's nothing stopping me except finding the time...oh yeah, and containers, the continual bane of my cosmetic existence.... ;)
