detox diet, day 4/5
Oct. 1st, 2008 01:35 pmBreakfast: Rice protein smoothie, the usual recipe, with flax oil
UltraInflamX, a weird shake powder my doctor is making me use (it's weird-tasting)
Lunch: leftover tofu stirfry and rice
Dinner:
steak
leftover potatoes
1/2 avocado
4 pcs tuna sushi roll
Green salad: spring mix, romaine hearts, curly endive (bitter!), green peppers, cucumber, fresh parsley, EV olive oil, lemon juice, salt
Snack: 1 apple with plenty of cashew butter
Very late snack: 3 rice cakes with cashew butter and honey, 1/2 cup unsweetened soymilk to wash it down
Breakfast day 5: decaf organic coffee with unsweetened soymilk, 1/2 serving of UltraInflamX
Lunch day 5:
Spinach and mushrooms sauteed with garlic and olive oil
turkey patties with fresh parsley and herbs
brown rice
Changes I've noticed:
+complexion is improving
+digestive system is working normally (first time in over a year, I think)
-some detox symptoms, like headaches, fatigue, increased nasal allergies
-leg pain from standing up at the stove/sink to cook
I'm cooking up some really fantastic food, out of necessity. It's like having your car break down and having to walk to work through a beautiful meadow. Kind of.

detox diet, day 3
Sep. 29th, 2008 08:55 pmBreakfast: rice protein smoothie, the usual recipe, except I added a tbsp of flax oil, which made the smoothie nutty and tasty. :D
Lunch: tofu stir-fry with onion, celery, green pepper, mushroom. Seasoned with garlic, ginger, soy sauce and a little lemon juice. Served over brown rice. (Yum.)
Snack: 1 sliced apple with cashew butter.
Dinner: Pan-seared salmon, spring mix with diced avocado, EVOO, lemon juice and salt. Iced decaf green tea with lemon.
I'll probably be hungry for carbs later, at which point I can have some leftover potatoes.
I'm really suffering with all this delicious food. Man. :P

I'm going on the "Caveman diet"
Sep. 27th, 2008 12:45 pmMy test showed positive results for 20 foods. Many of them are random foods that I don't eat very often anyway. Some of them were foods that would be totally allowable on a standard elimination diet, so it's good that I got the test done.
Really sucky ones:
Eggs
Milk
Wheat
Chicken
Pork
Yeast
Sort of annoying ones:
Oats
Cranberries
Peanuts
Quinoa
Almonds
Kidney Beans
Ones I don't care about:
Clam
Goat's milk
Oysters
Peanuts
Radishes
Scallops
Snapper
Sunflower
I'm happy that I don't have to go entirely gluten-free, and that I can still have chocolate.
Today I've eaten homemade chickpea salad, brown rice, and steamed green cabbage. Also, a cup of organic decaf with soy milk.
I have really been feeling like crap lately, and I've been eating a lot of wheat, dairy, eggs and sugar. I dread the actual detox/withdrawal symptoms I'll be having this week, but eventually I should feel better from all of this.
