i did hear from my father. he sent me an email yesterday, which i got today. this makes me glad..if i make an effort i'll get to have a relationship with my father, which is something i've wanted for a long time.
also, i've been struggling lately with learning to inject worms...i thought it was hopeless...but Anne (senior grad student in the lab) gave me a lesson yesterday, and it was INCREDIBLY helpful. i was at the scope for three hours today, and i injected four worms that actually survived. with any luck, i injected them in the right part of the body, and they'll produce some lovely transformants. if this happens i will throw myself a party...i will buy a tiara and wear it for a week...i will wear a prom dress and glitter to work and pronounce myself the queen of lab success. seriously, this is a difficult technique, and if i kick its ass, it will restore my faith in myself as a scientist.
on a sad note, it seems like maybe my roommate Jeff is avoiding me. i don't quite know why. i did move my TV out of the living room, because no one ever watches it but me, and i have AC in my bedroom, and this way i will have less chance of making a mess and pissing people off if i'm never in the living room. i'm not trying to be antisocial, although i am starting to feel nervous around the house. partly because of the note that was left about shaving a dog in the bathtub...i really was hurt by that note. it makes me sick to think of it. she could've just said "you need clean the mess in the tub ASAP, it's really gross." i would've responded to that, and even apologized. i hate how this crap happens everywhere i live...it must be ME...i don't know how to change it. it's tense.
therefore, this evening seems like a good time to go see Gidget. yup yup. i go play with kitty! mew!!
i was asked to check on april and ken's cat while they're off at the folk festival in new york state this weekend. what? a reason to get out of the house and play with a cat? duh.
