so i went to a doodle-on-people party last night. when i got there i didn't really know anyone. i felt like an idiot. i just winged it. i sorta made friends with this one cool woman, a jeweler. she said, "yeah, but you must be really cool if you're here, right?"
i try not to have an ego about being cool. it doesn't matter if you're cool. what matters is having people that really know you and appreciate you for who you really are. you can be cool and not have that, and the cool part is then rendered worthless. which means that cool was worthless to begin with.
what if you have appreciative people around, and you're not cool? do you then honestly wish to be cool? i wouldn't.
i'm going to call Rachel now and see if she wants to do something.

Date: 2002-07-25 04:54 pm (UTC)i don't actually know you well myself (& was freaking out that day cuz my kitten's been sick, which didn't put me in much frame of mind to be sociable, alas). i wouldn't presume to pass any judgement on yer coolness, anyway. but fwiw, i do hope you had a good time at the party.
