Trying an LJ experiment.
Any entries I write that are [negative, depressed, grumpy, bitter] to blow off steam and process---I'll leave them up only temporarily, and then go back and mark them private.
To my thinking, this would put the focus on the positive, because the negative rant-y entries color and overpower the positive, happy ones if they're allowed to float around and present themselves to readers.
Keeping a journal can sometimes be like writing your own character. I have some level of control over how I experience life, and that control lies in how I write about it. If I write from the optimistic angle, I'm more likely to experience life in a positive way.

I'm ill. My stomach is nauseous. It's my own fault. (Don't ask.)

Yet, I'm at work doing my second ELISA assay for the day.

Hopefully the time will pass quickly, and I can go home and lay in bed and the cat can keep me company.

I have a sushi date which I will most certainly have to cancel due to...barfy feelings.
