lyonesse:
1. what's your favorite vegetable?
As a novelty vegetable, my favorite is probably artichoke.
I am enthralled by the combination of sweet potatoes and collard greens.
Other veggies I'm fond of: asparagus, beets, Italian green beans, broccoli, napa cabbage, spinach,
I can't decide...I guess I'm just a veggie slut.
2. how did you start writing music?
Instrumental music: I started improvising melodies and composing on my cello in elementary school.
Songs with words: I've always written poems...setting them to music is another thing entirely, as you know. My first couple of songs were written at the end of my Simon's Rock experience in 1997. It just kind of came together, probably because I got a capo and was suddenly able to play more interesting things. Every now and then I'd write another song. Unfortunately, I don't remember any of the early ones!! Though they might be in a notebook somewhere...actually they are. OMG. Scary.
3. what was your best subject in high school?
My favorite classes were biology and chemistry. They were the most challenging. I didn't necessarily get my best grades there, however. That would be English.
4. what do you read for pleasure?
Anne Rice, Salman Rushdie, Margaret Atwood, various mystery and sci-fi...you know, light reading. ;) I prefer fiction that's kind of strange and fantastical.
5. do you like stuffed animals?
Yes, but not so much that I collect them. I do have a stuffed monkey I'm very proud of. If I did start a stuffed animal collection, I would get exotic stuff like dolphins, pandas, lizards, etc.
If you'd like me to interview you, leave me a comment. :)
