i'm much closer to actually getting the laptop now, thanks to helpful suggestions. now i just have to see if i can get a kickass deal.

i made friends with the kitty, with the help of a cat brush. i'll be his buddy while the rest of the house is away at Worldcon.

today we're taking the new Swedish student out for beer after work. it's becoming a tradition to get new lab members drunk when they start. ah, that's what happens when you have a German boss.

i'm short on sleep today, for a good cause. i'm working pretty well despite the yawning.
