Oct. 16th, 2003 09:21 amI get the Golden Stapler Award today!! You know, the Golden Stapler that fastens your hand to your forehead? Like any good "goth" girl who must also manage a productive life, I do take my angst with a grain of salt. Pat me on the back. *snicker*
Let's try to de-emotionalize this apartment dilemna by organizing it into pros and cons. I could really use Yoda right now, but I guess I'm on my own for this one.
Pros:
1. right near three bus lines. particularly the 87 bus, which runs up elm street (close to Porter)
2. very close to a supermarket
3. VERY well-kept apartment, with huge common area, lots of light
4. nice bathroom i only have to share with one female
5. prospie roommate is linked to And/Or and easy for me to respect as a person; i consider her good friend material
6. opportunity to go grocery-shopping with vehicled roommate
7. dishwasher, AC, hardwood floor in bedroom, not dusty or grimy in any way. won't aggravate my allergies.
Cons:
1. don't know how much notice i need to give current housemates to avoid retaliation...R needs a roommate ASAP
2. i might fail the credit check because of the problems i had earlier this year
3. nervous that i'll be too sloppy or loud and new roommate will hate me
4. roommie is sensitive to scents, might have a problem with the soap and lotion stuff i use
5. giving up prime location in Davis Sq.
6. i'd still be moving into someone else's apartment
7. because the apartment is so well-kept, i might not be able to decorate it to death like i tend to do
8. in my own special dysfunctional way, i feel that the apartment is too nice for me. when someone mentions they hate dirty dishes, i keep getting a picture of being screamed at for that very offense all through my teens. i've improved tremendously, but is it enough?
one step i'll be taking today...i'm gonna send her an email detailing my concerns and being totally honest, since i was too timid the other night to tell her everything. obviously, i don't want to end up driving someone else nuts, or changing over from a situation that's annoying-yet-livable to one that's really desperate. i have been losing sleep about this the past two nights, which is bad since i was sick recently...i could get sick again, and not be able to catch up on my work.
*obligatory sigh*
