May. 4th, 2003 12:32 pmlest i forget to mention, i stopped to get some CDs at the Newbury Comics in Harvard Square yesterday. i replaced my copy of the Cocteau Twins BBC Sessions and got Ladytron's first album, "604," which is every bit as satisfying as Light And Magic".
however, i also picked up a used copy of Heaven or Las Vegas, and was in for a nasty surprise. I slid the CD into the player, expecting the lush opening chords of "Cherry-coloured Funk"....instead, the speakers spit forth a stream of male voices speaking Spanish. followed by some sort of LATIN music. some shitty flamenco or something. i screamed. really, i have nothing against latin music, but when i PAY for the Cocteau Twins, i had better GET the Cocteau Twins, and not some goddamned Los Lobos ripoff!!! i think i should take that CD back there and make them listen to it so THEY know it's not even the right music on the disc. normally stores don't take back used CDs but i think this is a verrry special circumstance.
i was also reminded of just how lovely Boston and Cambridge are in the springtime. warm sunny days and flowering trees...although, i did start sneezing and sniffling so much that i had to stop at a CVS in North End for kleenex and Benadryl.
time for Ladytron and some outdoor activities...
